I Got A Box

 The Comic Garage

I usually don't do reviews like this for a number of reasons. The main reason is I find these boxes more hit than miss and who wants to pay for a box of stuff you'll never use? With that being said, I decided to check out the Comic Garage. What is the Comic Garage? It's a monthly subscription where you get either ten, or twenty four comics delivered to your door. Sounds cool right? Problem is, you get a bunch of comics you have no intrest in so you end up cancelling after one month. What got my attention was that you can pick the characters you're interested in so the box is tailored to you. Again, I was skeptical but decided to try it out. There was also five dollars off the first box so I decided why not. The prices on the boxes are 24.99 for the super box of ten comics or 44.99 for the super box of twenty four. I almost didn't do this review simply because of the way the ecomomy is right now and not a lot of people are struggling to make ends meet so no one will really care about this anyway.

In the end, I decided to do a review. An unbiased review of my experience. I wasn't paid to do this, nor did I recieve anything just to say nice things about these guys. This is all based on my experience and not influenced by anyone. I say this now because people are influenced to write these glowing reviews just to get people suckered into buying their product. Reviews help a company sell things, but if the thing you're reading about is crap, you're out whatever you spent and are stuck with something you bought because you were lied to. It happens all the time and while I write this review, my opinions are mine and mine alone. No one offered me anything to write this. Everyone will have their own opinion and that's what makes life so interesting.

When I signed up, I liked that I could pick which characters I like. I picked Daredevil, Batman, Fantastic Four, and Harley Quinn. From there all I had to do was wait for the box to arrive. The box was shipped fairly quickly but with the issues lately with the mail I wasn't surprised to see the arrival date change once it was shipped. Not a deal breaker by any means and not the fault of the company. Everything is delayed so all I could do was be patient. I still have a book out there somewhere that I ordered in December. Anyway, signing up is easy, and painless. You get an email confirming and boom, you're in.

So, when you get your package their sealed up nicely with two protective boards keeping your books from getting damaged. They aren't bagged and boarded but what I noticed is that the comics were mint, and that was nice to see. The assortment I got was pretty decent. Here's where a lot of people complain which I get it, I really do. My box contained comics that were newer than advertised, but the thing i liked was that they were comics i didn't have and were characters I picked. I have over three thousand comics and was worried that I would get books I already had, but I didn't. Whoever picked these books did a great job and gave me books that I wanted to read.

These FF's were a solid choice and allowed me to check out some of Bendis' work and added to my already large collection. Ultimate Fantastic Four was something I missed due to me not reading comics when these first came out. Sure, they may be newer, but it gave me another era of the FF to explore and check out. No complaints at all here.

Never heard of this character but that's what's so great about boxes like these. They sometimes contain hidden gems like these. Am I fan of westerns? Not so much, but I loved this book so that's a good thing. I also got an X-Men and an Uncanny Avengers which wasn't something I picked but why would I complain about X-Men and Avengers?? Again it's a solid choice and gave me books that add to my collection.

Out of eleven books I got most of what I put down. The Daredevil is part of a run I planned on checking out anyway and it gives me a good starting point. I have a lot of Harley and Suicide Squad so these again fit right into my collection. So, based on what I got I would say you should definately check out the Comic Garage even if you're already collecting. You get some great books and if you're just starting to collect this adds to your growing collection quickly. My first box was pretty decent and I can't wait to see what they put in next month's box. Were there a lot of newer comics? Sure, but as a fan, it wasn't something I was upset about. They may promise you older comics but sometimes it just doesn't happen and I get it, but in the box I recieved it was perfect and was stuff that I would read anyway. They really do cater the box to you which is the most important thing. I may have gotten one comic that didn't fit into what I like but that's bound to happen. The thing is, I liked it enough to seek it out on my own just to complete the series.

Here's the link for anyone interested in checking this out for yourself. While the experience may differ for everyone, I have zero complaints and would recommend The Comic Garage to anyone who loves comics. https://www.thecomicgarage.com/
